The Magnificence of Concrete Dye

One of the current forms in which cement is being used is cement dye. Cement dye is the coloured form of cement and has found many uses in the real world.
How can one colour cement?
There are primarily two ways of colouring cement. One is by using dry pigment which is swept across the surface of concrete which has been freshly prepared. The other one is by using powder or liquid pigments which are then poured into the wet concrete before it is being poured.
Surface Colouring
Step 1: Sprinkle on the Powder
While the concrete is curing, cover the area with an even coat of the coloured powder. Avoid clumping the powder since it can become difficult to clean afterward. If the area is small enough, you can apply the powder by hand. Be sure to wear gloves if this is your preferred application method. For larger areas, one can use a style bar spreader.
Step 2: Broom Finish the Concrete
The ubiquitous broom plays an important role out here. Use the broom to sweep the surface evenly. This is done to make sure that the powder has covered the surface evenly. On areas too thinly covered, apply more powder.
Step 3: Let the Powder Set
The first application of powder should remain on the concrete's surface until internal water absorbs the pigment. This will almost take 24 hours.
Step 4: Rinse
Remove excess powder by thoroughly rinsing the concrete.
Step 5: Apply Finish
A sealant or finish is applied to the first application of the pigmented powder. You'll want to be cautious while you apply the finish, gently so that it does not break through to the gray-colored concrete. The manufacturer instructs to dry the sealant.
Step 6: Repeat Process
For a more vibrant look, apply the remaining amount of pigment to the concrete and repeat the entire process.
One of the most important aspects of collaring cement is to keep the water ratio consistent throughout. It is the water to cement ratio that keeps the colour constant. Controlling the amount of water hence becomes an imperative task and needs to be factored in while colouring cement. However, one must also be aware of a few conditions: Like if the surface is drying out, or the weather is hot and windy, it is advisable not to use water.

Instead, use a surface evaporative control agent.
